Elaine C Smith Prize

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) has introduced the Elaine C. Smith Prize, a new award aimed at nurturing emerging Scottish talent in the performing arts. This accolade is named in honour of Elaine C. Smith, a distinguished Scottish actress and comedian renowned for her extensive contributions to theatre and television.

Born in Baillieston, Glasgow, in 1958, Smith's illustrious career spans several decades. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Mary Doll in the iconic Scottish sitcom "Rab C. Nesbitt" and currently stars as Christine in the popular series "Two Doors Down." Beyond her on-screen roles, Smith has been a prominent figure in Scottish theatre, particularly noted for her performances in pantomime. Her dedication to the arts and her deep-rooted connection to Glasgow have made her a beloved figure in the city's cultural scene.

The Elaine C. Smith Prize reflects Smith's commitment to fostering new talent.
